Overview

This project explored the potential of using remote sensing datasets to assess the vulnerability and exposure to floods. Composed of two parts in two modules, one policy pitch and one application using Google Earth Engine.

The Policy Pitch

We have proposed a flood risk assessment plan making use of remote sensing for Da Nang, Viet Nam. The prediction of land use and its relationship to flood prone areas can be assessed using earth observation data.

My main contribution is the land use / expansion analysis and the summary of outcomes.

The Google Earth Engine App

Building on top of the ideas accumulated at the policy pitch, we have created a Google Earth Engine app that explores the exposure to flood events in the past and identifying potentially risky areas.
